First ReCerf™ Ceramic-on-Ceramic Hip Resurfacing Procedure Performed in New Zealand
A major milestone in orthopaedic innovation has been achieved with the successful completion of the first ReCerf™ ceramic-on-ceramic hip resurfacing procedure in New Zealand.
The procedure was performed by Mr Hugh Blackley, an experienced orthopaedic surgeon with more than 25 years of expertise in hip surgery and who has the most experience in hip resurfacing in New Zealand having done the first and the most Resurfacings of hips.
This achievement marks the introduction of a next-generation hip resurfacing technology designed to provide an alternative to traditional total hip replacement, particularly for younger, active patients seeking to maintain a high level of function.
“This represents an important advancement in the hip arthroplasty options available to New Zealand patients,” said Mr Blackley. “Metal Hip resurfacing has a 30-year clinical history and can offer significant benefits for carefully selected patients.
